Brazil - Tourism, Hospitality and English Language

In 2018, Edinburgh College worked with the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism to offer a bespoke Tourism, Hospitality and English language course for Ministry-funded undergraduate Brazilian students as part of a UK-Brazil partnership training initiative.

In partnership with the UK’s Association of Colleges (AoC), the College welcomed a group of ten Brazilian students to Edinburgh in January 2018 to study a three month course. Students developed their skills in key areas including English Language, hospitality management, marketing in travel and tourism, tour guiding, customer care, e-business in tourism, and professional and personal development.

On completion of the course, students were able to understand the tourism and hospitality sector in the UK, how this compares to the sector in Brazil while gaining knowledge on how their classroom learning operates in practice within the industry in Scotland. Students also gained hands-on practical experience of hospitality management by gaining practical experience working in the College’s commercial training restaurant.

This followed successful delivery of the programme in 2014.
