How has the scholarship helped you?
The scholarship has helped me to improve my English skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. It is an important tool to communicate with people and open opportunities around the world as it is the most important language.
It has definitely helped me improve my IELTS skills to take my exam so I can apply for my masters in the UK or anywhere in the world.
I have always wanted to study abroad, many of my friends have studied abroad. I couldn't as I didn't have the money or opportunities. I have always wanted to do this in my life and now I have the scholarship.
Could you have studied overseas without the scholarship?
The scholarship has had a great impact on my life. I would have had to borrow money to study overseas to pay for the fees and I would be in a difficult situation. If I didn't have the scholarship I wouldn't have left my country.
I was not improving my skills at work so that is why I decided to come here. It wouldn't be the same without the scholarship.
What do you enjoy most about living in Edinburgh?
I have enjoyed Edinburgh a lot. It has changed my life. I am relaxed, I know I am improving my English which will help my future a lot. Studying in a city like Edinburgh which is beautiful, well organised, with amazing architecture and history. I have enjoyed Edinburgh as I have made new friends from around the world and meeting people from different cultures. One thing I really like here is the free things to do. There are many free museums, the quality of the water and the fact that this city encourages you to study and become a better person every day.
What do you feel is the best aspect of studying at Edinburgh College?
I just can't wait for my days in class at the college. At weekends I am waiting for my classes to start again and I can't wait to come into college, it really makes me happy to come here. The building is great, the diversity of people and the students. The building has remarkable facilities that I have never seen before like smartboards. It is easy to learn, the quality of the teachers is so good. I studied English in my home country and the level of teaching is not the same. The standard and quality of education at the college is so much better. I would recommend the college to my friends and other people around the world. If you study at Edinburgh College you will improve your English more than if you study in your home country.
Would you recommend Edinburgh College to others?
I am so happy with the time that has passed so far on my course and I will recommend the college to people in Colombia; my friends; friends of friends; and family.
