Teacher Training

Edinburgh College is an established provider of Teacher Development Programmes for groups of professionals from many different countries. Programmes are available for both teachers of English and teachers of other subjects. Teachers of all levels are catered for, from new teachers just entering the profession to experienced teachers requiring to refresh and develop their skills. Teacher Development Programmes can take place at the College or in your home country - this can depend on the type of qualification required and your own preferences for delivery. Some programmes may combine delivery in both Edinburgh and your home country. Teacher Development Programmes for groups can take place at any time of year and can also include a social programme, accommodation, airport pickup and local travel arrangements.

Programmes available include:

  • TKT (Teacher Knowledge Test)
  • ICELT (In-service Certificate in English Language Testing)
  • CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

"I have been teaching English to High School students in Jiangsu Province, China for 15 years. The Education Ministry arranged for this group of experienced teachers to attend the ICELT course at the Sighthill Campus. The course is very useful as we have the opportunity to see classes and teaching styles here are so different from China. The social programme is also helpful and allows us to experience the country and culture. As English teachers it is so important to learn about the food and the music and the country, not just what happens in school. I am sure when I go home to China I will be able to apply everything new that I have learned in Edinburgh."
