Edinburgh College has been shortlisted in three categories in the UK Times Education Supplement (TES) Further Education Awards, the FE sector’s top national honours. The college is one of only three colleges in Scotland to be nominated in this year’s awards, which recognise the best work throughout UK further education.
The college is nominated for:
- The Employer Engagement category for the Graphic Design department’s industry partnership programme, which afforded graphic design students the opportunity to gain first-hand industry experience of the inner workings of the industry, helping them to become the next professional stars.
- The Contribution to the Local Community category for the Sustainability team’s Community Garden project, which helped students and volunteers to improve their basic skills, develop confidence and prepare for further study through group exercises and outdoor activities.
- The Marketing/Communications Campaign of the Year category for the Marketing and Communications team’s August 2015 recruitment campaign which changed the college’s strategy of engaging more with students while helping them identify a future career pathway.
More than 100 FE providers, individual staff and teams are in the running for 14 TES FE Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony on Friday 22 April at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Edinburgh College Principal Annette Bruton said:
“The TES Further Education awards are important because they celebrate those colleges, individuals and teams whose dedication, innovation, and hard work are making a real difference for their students and communities. I am also pleased to see other colleges in Scotland being recognised nationally for their hard work in the sector.”
