We have got a proven record for success … Mam was referred to the Get Ready for College! course via the Baton Project. Following her successful completion she then progressed onto Skills for Life and Work. Her experiences on both courses have helped her to identify a clear career path and she is currently a student on the Travel and Tourism course. Mam hopes to gain employment within this industry and particularly enjoys studying Tour Guiding. She feels that her confidence and communication skills have improved greatly as a result of doing both courses where she gained qualifications and soft skills. Liam joined the Get Ready for College! in September 2013. A quiet young man he progressed onto Skills for Life and Work which saw his confidence and employability soar. As a result of his collective learning experience Liam is currently studying Social Sciences and hopes to use his learning to gain entry to the Police Force. Recently Liam helped to co-host an Open Day which showcased the success of both Skills for Life and Work and Get Ready for College! courses. Lilliana a young mum came to Scotland from her native Poland. Her main aim was to gain some qualifications and she quickly became an integral part of the Get Ready for College! student body taking the role of Class Rep and also was responsible for organising fund raising initiatives. The next step in her learning journey saw her participate in a work placement in a children’s nursery while study on the Skills for Life and Work course. This experience underlined her desire to study for a qualification in Child Care and to fulfil her dream of working with children. Currently she is on track to complete the first stage of her childcare qualification. Jenny is a lady from Australia. Her positive attitude to learning saw her progress from Get Ready for College! to the Adult Returners’ course in academic year 2013/14. In August 2014 Jenny’s dream of studying at a Higher level was realised when she was accepted on the SWAP Access to Humanities course.
