Course Overview

Converging technologies and multi-platform developments are central to this unique Audio Visual qualification. The course is designed to keep pace with Creative Industry developments and will provide the trans-disciplinary skillsets required by employees in this dynamic, cutting edge sector. 

HND Year 1 will introduce you to the practical elements and technical theories required within the Audio Visual Industry. This includes Video Production, Lighting, Editing, Camera Operation, and Sound, plus an introduction to Animation and Digital Content Delivery. 

HND Year 2 is designed to allow you to develop specialisms in Multimedia and Motion Graphics, Television Production (Multi-Camera and Single-Camera), and Audio Visual Systems. You will be encouraged to explore the converging Audio Visual industry and produce projects which are creative and technically innovative. 

Work placements will give you the opportunity to develop and showcase your skills and build a CV and Showreel designed for progression to employment or further study at degree level.

Entry Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 Highers at level C (preferably English Science or Maths) or successful completion of a relevant NC qualification at SCQF Level 6
English Proficiency Requirements
  • IELTS 5.5

  • Practical and written assignments
Information on Test/Auditions/Interview Requirements

  • Candidates will be required to bring original certificates of their qualifications to the interview.
  • Candidates will be required to bring a digital showreel/portfolio of lens based video or photographic work, audio production, multimedia or other visual work that they have created for discussion at interview.  Any audio, photographic or video work must be a copy on a CD or pen drive that can be left at an interview if required.
  • Candidates will also be requested to complete an information form before attending an interview, which will give details of personal interests, creative interests, awareness of media and film, any relevant experience, and their aspirations for their future careers.
