Course Overview

THIS COURSE IS SPECIFICALLY FOR SENIOR PHASE SCHOOL PUPILS WHILE STILL AT SCHOOL. 


This course will give you an understanding of the financial services industry and developing key communication skills vital for working in the sector. You will combine your College study with work experience in a relevant financial services organisation such as Black Rock Finance and Virgin Money.

This is a two-year course. In year one you will complete a National Progression Award (NPA) in Financial Services (SCQF Level 6) attending Edinburgh College two afternoons per week along with a one-week work placement.  In year two, you will typically spend around 10 hours per week attending Edinburgh College and on an extended placement with an employer to complete your qualification in the workplace.

Placement Information

  • The college and employer will work in partnership to outline what is expected of the learner during the work placement.  A college assessor will make scheduled visits to work placement companies to assess and verify the learner's work
  • The work placement tasks may include Preparing financial statements

Entry Requirements
-

  • Achieved or working towards Higher (A-C) in a relevant subject areas – e.g. English, Business by the end of S6

Or/and

  • NPA Financial services
  • The ability to work towards SCQF level 6 (Higher) qualifications
  • Interested in or considering a career in the Financial Sector
  • Positive behaviour and school attendance report

  • IELTS 5.5
