Michelle wins prestigious prize at Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards

Edinburgh College’s Michelle Skotzen has been crowned a Knowledge Exchange Hero at a national awards ceremony in recognition of her work in showcasing the Innovation capabilities of Scotland’s college sector.

Michelle, who works in the Capital College’s Business Development team, won the Knowledge Exchange Heroes category at the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards held in Glasgow last night.

Michelle’s win is just rewards for leading on a plethora of projects between the College and clients, as well as her part in forging a successful relationship with the Gatsby Foundation – which led to a series of pilot innovation workshops for 16 businesses based throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians soon followed, highlighting the support Colleges can provide to adopt and diffuse innovation.

In addition, Michelle led the development of the College Innovation Network, (CIN) a cross-sector collaborative network of four colleges, which seeks to undertake employer research with the aim of informing College innovation hubs which aim to replicate the successful Northern Irish model.

It is an honour to have won this award at the Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards. It is brilliant to be recognised alongside so many fantastic finalists. At our College we have worked tremendously hard to engage with businesses across Scotland on some wonderful and unique projects which are making a real difference across a number of sectors. It has also been a pleasure to work across our network of colleges in Scotland and take in visits to Northern Ireland to learn from others, share best practice, and ultimately work together to maximise the potential of colleges in innovation and knowledge exchange.
