College welcomes new Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science for first ministerial visit

Staff and students from Edinburgh College welcomed Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science Richard Lochhead MSP to the College’s Midlothian Campus for his first ministerial visit since being appointed to the role.

The Minister was given a tour of the campus by Principal Audrey Cumberford and spent time with the College’s Engineering and Built Environment staff and students, taking the time to chat to them about their studies and plans for the future.

During his visit, Mr Lochhead met with students in the College’s Engineering workshops and was shown around the Campus’s state of the art facilities – including its oil production platform simulator and solar meadow.

Audrey said: “I was thrilled to welcome the Minister to the College for his first ministerial visit since taking on the role. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the wonderful facilities we have at Midlothian Campus and for our students and staff to take the time to talk to him about their experience of education and training at our College. The enthusiasm of staff and students shone through.”
