Applications open for Edinburgh College STEM Mentor scheme

The College’s Engineering faculty is looking to recruit four STEM Mentors from current HNC and HND Engineering student groups. The STEM mentors will work alongside staff to support STEM engagement activities including P7 Inspiration days and, eventually, visit schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians to promote Edinburgh College and STEM activities.

Full support will be given through a structured in-house training programme. STEM mentors will be reimbursed for travel costs associated with participation and will also receive a one-off payment of £500.

STEM mentors will need to be available out with their standard College timetable to attend training sessions and support engagement events. Events at Midlothian run on a Thursday and attendance is expected at four of these events throughout the mentorship. The anticipated time commitment would be around 40 hours minimum over the course of the scheme. Authorised absence from College classes will be given where required.

To apply for this opportunity, please provide a maximum 500-word statement telling us why you are applying to be part of the STEM Mentor scheme. Please email lynsey.kemp@edinburghcollege.ac.uk attaching your statement which includes student number and contact details.

Applicants must be current current Edinburgh College students. Applications close on Friday 11 October.
