What is the Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF)?

The Scottish Government and Scottish Funding Council have announced the new Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF), in direct response to feedback from the Scottish Government’s consultation on the introduction of the UK Government Apprenticeship Levy.

What does this mean?

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund provides eligible employers with up to £15,000 worth of training from their local college, to up-skill and re-skill their existing workforce. It is available to all levy-paying employers in Scotland across the private, public and third sector, and will be led by employer demand.

How can you apply for the workforce fund?

Employers will be required to submit evidence of their eligibility to pay the levy alongside their application. The fund will not support provision of qualifications/training required by legislation.

Edinburgh College will work with employers to identify training needs that will make a demonstrable return on investment. For more information on this fund and to start your application.

How long do you have to access the workforce fund?

The deadline for applications is: 31 July 2020.
