Good luck to our WorldSkills UK Live competitors

One Edinburgh College student and one alumnus will take centre stage this week as they head to the UK’s biggest skills competition being held in Birmingham.

Roof Tiling and Slating adult apprentice Scott Allan and former Cyber Security student Fergus Firth are competing at WorldSkills UK Live at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on Thursday and Friday this week after they won regional qualifiers within their disciplines.

Principal Audrey Cumberford said: “We wish Scott and Fergus the very best of luck when they compete at WorldSkills UK Live this week – it is an incredible opportunity for them to shine. Getting to the UK stage of WorldSkills is a testament to their talent and commitment. I am going to the competition and I’m looking forward to seeing Scott and Fergus in action, as well as meeting the staff that have worked with them to prepare.

“Skills competitions like these are so much more than just competing. They put our College on the national and global stage, as well as providing our students with the chance to network with their peers and industry experts whose knowledge they can tap into and take inspiration from throughout their careers.

“I would encourage all of our curriculum teams to consider putting forward students for these types of events next term and beyond.”
