National Strike update: Classes cancelled on Tuesday 5 February but campuses open

The second in a series of national strike days planned by the EIS, the trade union representing college lecturers, is taking place on Tuesday 5 February 2019.

All classes (including evening and SCP) are cancelled on the day, however campuses will be open for students to access all facilities and learning resources for self-directed study.

You do not have to attend College on this day unless your lecturer has specifically told you to attend.

Our virtual learning environment, Moodle, will be available throughout strike action so you can keep up to date with your studies. Your lecturers will let you know in advance of anything important you should be aware of and any available materials.

Your student support payments will not be affected by the strike action.

Any assessments planned on this day will be rescheduled.

Further days of strike action may take place on Wednesday 6 March and Thursday 21 March 2019. We will update you on any planned action being taken on these dates nearer the time.

If you have any questions or concerns please speak to your lecturer, Student Services or your Students’ Association.

We will keep you up to date with any changes to planned strike action via the Student Portal and our social media pages: Facebook and Twitter.
