A group of Edinburgh College Photography students have recently showcased their work at the UK’s top graduate art exhibition in London.

The BA Professional Photography students’ work was on show in England’s capital city as part of the Free Range Exhibition at the Truman Brewery.

Free Range is a three-week summer exhibition of cutting-edge and emerging talent which showcases the work of over 800 art and photography students from across the UK. It provides an opportunity for graduate artists and photographers to connect with both industry and their peers, and for the majority, to execute their first show out of college or university.

An annual awards show is held as part of the exhibition where the work of each student is judged by a panel of industry experts and professionals, with a chance to win funding towards their own solo exhibition and receive a personal mentorship.

Edinburgh College student Diana Sosnowska, who was named runner-up for the ‘Best in Show’ category, said: “Exhibiting my work at Free Range was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to each and every future BA student – it was the perfect end to a long journey started four years ago. Being announced as runner-up for Best in Show is great recognition for all the work that I have produced throughout the year, and I am very grateful for all the support I have received from my teachers and fellow students during the past four years, without which this little success would have never been possible.”

Photography lecturer Jon Lee said: “The exhibition took the best part of two days to build, it was hard work but a lot of fun and worth it for the opening night. Once again our BA Professional Photography students have shone through with the sheer consistency of their outstanding work which was technically well produced and beautifully crafted.”
