Edinburgh College picked up a record number of commendations at the annual You Can Now (YCN) Student Awards ceremony held recently at the Toynbee Hall in London.
HND User Experience student Agnieszka Koundourakis, and HND Graphic Design students Sean Gordon, Anne Bender, Ben Neilson and David Symmons all received a commendation at the ceremony – a record number achieved by Edinburgh College students in a single year.
The YCN awards programme challenges students from across the UK and beyond to come up with ideas to solve live creative briefs written each year by partnering organisations and reflecting an array of modern business and marketing challenges. Partner organisations included: KFC, Childline, Gumtree, Energy Saving Trust, Hostelworld and Peabody among others.
Outstanding entrants are awarded a commendation, exhibited at a celebratory annual event and offered further industry support, training and mentoring designed to kickstart their creative careers.
Art and Design lecturer Chris Hughes said: “We are delighted that five of our students have been recognised at the 2019 YCN Awards. To receive this number of commendations is exceptional and shows the depth of talent we have studying at the College. We’re very proud of our students in what has been a hugely successful year.”
Agnieska Koundourakis said: “I’m really proud and pleased to have been commended at the YCN Student Awards. It was an amazing feeling to be able to attend the ceremony in London to collect my award alongside students from all over the UK and further afield. To get this recognition is brilliant as it shows that all of the hard work I’ve put in has paid off.”
