With the launch of our part-time courses this week, we thought we would compare the time it takes to come to college each week to other things you could do instead. What do you think is a better use of your time?
Watch 114.2 YouTube videos
According to Mini Matters, the average YouTube video is 4 minutes and 20 seconds long. This means that with 8 hours a week spare, you could watch 114.2 YouTube videos. Think about how good your make-up would be after watching all of those Zoella tutorials?
Answer 8 hours’ worth of emails (or more!)
According to Forbes, office workers spend 2.5 hours a day answering emails. Once you filter out all of the junk mail, surely it’s just meaningful emails left…right?
Cook 4 complex dinners
If you are quite the chef when you follow a recipe, you might cook 4 romantic dinners a week for the one you love. Jamie Oliver suggests a seafood risotto (1 hour 40 mins), a roast chicken dinner for two (1 hour 50 mins), a chocolate pudding (1 hour 55 mins), and a cherry and chocolate cheesecake (1 hour 20 mins). Who needs microwave meals?!
Scroll through Facebook
The average time adults spend on social media is roughly 1 hour 45 minutes a day. Who wouldn’t, there’s just so much content that our friends who we met on holiday 5 years ago are posting. We can’t miss out on that.
Sit and daydream
The average person spends over 3 hours a week daydreaming. Combine that with mindless scrolling and you have a jam-packed week.
How about instead of spending your precious 8 hours a week on these activities, you do something worthwhile like a part-time or evening course instead? This way you are working towards something you want to do, whether it be learning something new or taking the next step towards a promotion.
