2. GET HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE
Some of our retail courses include a practical element, giving your hands on experience in the Edinburgh College Pop Up Shop selling a range of products from clothing, food and jewellery. This allows you and your classmates will run the shop together: managing roles, delegating tasks, engaging with real customers and handling and processing transactions.

In our Introduction to Retail, Events & Tourism course, you will learn how to operate a retail business within the UK as well as worldwide, giving you a taste of international business and the tourism industry. Retailing with Fashion NC is a nationally recognised programme which combines retailing with fashion elements; create and design your own fashion elements and learn how to stock, manage and sell them. This course will give you the basic principles of marketing how to identify your audience and align your business to satisfy their needs. Visual merchandising consists of using a blend of psychological and design skills to decide how your shop window and floor are presented to your customers.

Retail Management HND refines the skills learned to prepare you for the role of a manager. This allows you to understand financial accounting statements including sales and expenditure and gain knowledge on retail law, what is legal to advertise to customers and making sure your shop environment meets the correct standards.
