Working Futures – Apprenticeships and career pathways explained

Edinburgh College, Skills Development Scotland (SDS) and Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) are co-hosting an information evening for parents of pupils from schools in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian.  This event will provide all the information you need to know about the new types of Apprenticeships and career pathways.

Employers are keen to recruit young people who are ‘Work Ready’. The new Foundation Apprenticeship pathways in the senior phase provide an opportunity for pupils to gain work experience and industry-recognised qualification whilst still at school.

A high percentage of job openings in our region over the next 10 years will require higher level qualifications. The good news is that more and more employers are offering opportunities for young people to earn while they learn, to get qualified through Modern and Graduate Apprenticeships.

Working Futures will give you the chance to find out more about these new career pathways and the opportunities they present.   Hear from young people about the advantages of work-based learning and their own experiences. Meet and chat with employers and university partners. There will also be the chance to get hands on with some of the practical aspects of Foundation Apprenticeships.

Programme:

6.00pm  Wine, refreshments & canapés served in the Hub
6.30pm  Welcome and presentations
7.00pm  Browse exhibition area, chat to employers, apprentices, faculty teams and partners
