Acting and Theatre Performance NC is an exploration of the acting industry. This course is designed to introduce you to acting and theatre career opportunities and push your creative potential. This course will test your acting and theatre skills through subjects in acting, voice and theatre.
Performing Arts Studio Scotland (PASS) has a range of exceptional professional facilities including the Pass studio theatre as well as dance, acting and aerial studios.
Opportunities for practical work experience will be available through PASS industry connections. Immerse yourself in the art of acting as you gain essential experience in professional environments and make crucial connections with theatre professionals. You will learn how to take a simple idea and expand and explore it until becomes a final product; bringing it to life. Theatre visits will be organised, and you will showcase your developing skills through at least two-stage performances of your own. This course will ensure you are well-prepared for further study of acting and performance at a higher level as well as preparing you for work in the industry. Information on Test/Auditions/Interview Requirements
Please film a one to two-minute contemporary monologue from a published play. We recommend using your own accent and looking for characters that are around your own age, please do not perform a Shakespeare piece.
Please upload this film to a private YouTube channel, making sure you state your name and the title of the piece before you begin. Once you have done this include the link in your application.

If your application is successful you will be invited to an online interview. You will be interviewed by two of the Acting staff who will ask you a series of questions to further assess your suitability for the course.
It is worth noting that you may be offered a place on a course of a different level, the staff team will place you on the course that they believe will best suit your needs and allow you to develop and progress within the department. Course Cost And Funding Options
Since leaving Edinburgh College, Karen Gillan went on to study in London at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts before appearing in popular TV shows such as The Kevin Bishop Show and medical drama Harley Street. Karen’s popularity has seen a sharp rise since she appeared as Amy Pond - Dr Who’s assistant in early 2010.
