Course Overview

Explore the basics of the creative industries in this entry-level National Progression Award (NPA). This course is your first step towards further study of a specialist subject such as theatre and performance; television and radio broadcasting; music and video. 

Discover your creative potential as you gain essential knowledge and understanding of the creative industry. 

Performing Arts Studio Scotland (PASS) has a range of exceptional professional facilities including the Pass studio theatre as well as dance, acting and aerial studios.

This course will test your creative abilities through subjects in production, live performance and communication.  Please see below for audition information.

Entry Requirements
  • There are no formal entry requirements 
  • A good personal statement stating your interest in the Performing Arts and demonstrating your commitment to the performing arts 
English Proficiency Requirements
  • ILETS 5.5
How the course is assessed
  • You will be assessed through practical demonstrations, theory and research assignments.

Please film yourself performing a one to two-minute piece of text, this could be a monologue, speech or poem. We recommend using your own accent and looking for something that is suitable for your age, please do not perform a Shakespeare piece.  


Please upload this film to a private YouTube channel, making sure you state your name and the title of the piece before you begin. Once you have done this include the link in your application.

If your application is successful you will be contacted to arrange an online interview with members of the teaching staff.  


It is worth noting that you may be offered a place on a course of a different level, the staff team will place you on the course that they believe will best suit your needs and allow you to develop and progress within the department.
