The AAT Diploma in Accounting offers technical training in accounting and will help you to pursue a rewarding career in accountancy and finance. You will be provided with the specialist knowledge and skills required to progress into employment in an accounting or finance role or to apply for further study of accountancy and finance.
This qualification is suitable for those who have completed the AAT Certificate in Accounting and wish to progress or are at a more intermediate level and looking to develop their skills in accounting. The Diploma in Accounting is also suited to those who have already started working in finance and who have a need to attain formal recognition of skills or school leavers who are interested in pursuing a career in this occupational area. It is also suited to adult students and those looking for a career change.
This course will be delivered by evening classes and a flexible online model. This can give you the flexibility to study at a convenient time and you will be able to contact your tutor for additional support if needed. You will be required to have access to IT to enable you to engage in the course e.g. laptop or a PC or Tablets course.

What you will learn

- Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
- Management Accounting Techniques
- Tax Processes for Business
How the course is assessed
- There are four mandatory units that you will be assessed on.
- These are assessed individually at an end of the unit through a computer-based assessment in the college.
Number of days per week
One evening per week from 6 pm until 8.45 pm

Entry requirements
- AAT Certificate in Accounting would automatically lead to entry to the Diploma in Accounting.
- For those candidates with other qualifications, it is recommended that you possess a good standard of English and mathematics, for example, certification in at least a National 5 level for both English and Maths.
- If you have other relevant school or college qualifications, a degree or some accounting experience, then these may be considered appropriate for entry.
