Course overview
The aim of the programme of activity is to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and higher order meta-skills including digital analytics. The programme offers an opportunity for mature learners to develop new skills and competencies as a post-COVID response enabling you to pivot into new roles and new opportunities. These skills will facilitate transitions to new employment as well as offering an opportunity for those wanting to start up a new business to extend their skills to help support that ambition. The programme will enable you to both embed your learning and accelerate the development of your digital profile in order to be transition ready.
This course is free for all applicants.
This programme is funded through the National Transition Training Fund and is co-created between Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh College.
The first part of the programme aims to give you the digital analysis skills needed to support the move into a new job role or to get you launch-ready for your new business. There are 6 sessions for this, some of which are half-day and some which are full day. The programme starts 9 May 2022 and runs for one day a week over eight weeks and includes a range of self-directed study that is designed to enable a deep dive into the topics covered.
The second part of the programme, which examines the wider “soft” skills you will need, comprises a series of six inter-connected workshops designed to enable you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and work towards a personal skills development plan. (Please see the overview of the sessions below).
Each of the 3-hour workshops in this part of the programme is delivered through a series of collaborative applied activities and focus on real-life entrepreneurial challenges (Please see outline of workshops below).
In the study groups and break out sessions, you will be asked to undertake short co-operative working activities with 3-4 members. These are designed to help you embed the learning and explore issues that directly apply to you.
All learners must complete session 7. This workshop focuses on you reflecting on your core skills and experience with entrepreneurial activities and outputs.
The delivery platform will be via Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
