Course overview

A career in early education and childcare is more than just a job. With plenty of opportunities for progression each day can be different, full of variety and full of adventures. Take your next step towards changing your life and the lives of children. With the expansion of early learning and childcare services across Scotland, there are lots of jobs available. This is a flexible career, with a variety of different ways to train and study. You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced lecturers and have individual support from Edinburgh College allowing you to progress professionally and academically.

The NC Early Education and Childcare course is for applicants who already have some experience of working with children and certificated academic qualifications at SCQF Level 5 or above and/or for those progressing on from our Childhood Practice Level 5 course. This is a full-time course and runs for 36 weeks.

Students studying childcare courses may be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) and to apply for a PVG. Read about these here and find out what you need to do.
