Course overview
This qualification is designed for individuals wishing to develop professional management and leadership practice, and who will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to drive business activities in a senior management and leadership role. Role and responsibilities may also include but are not limited to taking responsibility for people, projects, operations and services to deliver organisational success. They will have the professionalism to deliver impact, behave ethically and demonstrate a commitment to continual learning and development. The qualifications have been designed for practising or aspiring managers in roles such as:
- Senior Manager
- Regional Manager
- Specialist Manager (with expertise in a specific business or technical function such as quality, finance, risk, marketing, sales IT, human resources etc.)
- Director
- CEO
Extensive research has been undertaken to ensure that these qualifications reflect the tasks and activities of managers in the roles above, in the workplace.
It is worth noting that this course equates to Level 11 on the Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework and that level 7 in the title refers to the English qualification framework.

What you will learn
The course will cover four units:
- Strategic Leadership Practice
- Leading Strategic Change
- Developing Organisational Strategy
- Leading and Developing People to Optimise Performance
How the course is assessed
Each unit is assessed through an academic assignment in the form of one of the following:
- A report or reflective account
- Work-based evidence accompanied by reports/reflective accounts that meet the assessment criteria
The Word count for each of the unit assessments is generally 4,500.
Number of days per week
- Online workshops on MS Teams, one afternoon fortnightly 13.30 - 16.30 hrs from September 2023.
- The day is to be confirmed.
- 12 online workshops in total
Entry requirements
- Applicants will be educated to ordinary or honours degree level and be currently working in a middle or senior management role.

- Online interview with a tutor on MS Teams or by phone.
