Course overview
HND Events Management is an innovative course designed to
give you first-hand experience in the organisation of
events. This course will develop a dynamic range of
skills that you will need to work in this ever-changing
industry. You will cover an exciting selection of areas including
sporting, cultural, music and business events. This course has a strong
emphasis on teamwork, and you will plan and organise an event
of your own giving you excellent practical experience. This HND is a
step towards a rewarding career in the events industry; either working as a
member of an events team or even running your own business. There will be
opportunities for you to participate in a programme of visits to
hotels and other businesses operating within the events industry, for example, Dynamic Earth, to give you further insight into the industry. Upon
completion, you will be well prepared for a range of university degree
courses in events management.

Placement information
There is a mandatory work experience unit enabling you to
take advantage of the many fantastic opportunities available
during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe period. A minimum of 40 hours
must be completed. It is recommended that applicants gain work experience
within the events or hospitality industry throughout the duration of
the course.
How the course is assessed
You will be assessed through written and practical assignments throughout the year.

- 3 days per week
Entry requirements
Year one:- Minimum one Higher at a grade C or above from the following; English, Modern Studies, History, Religious Studies, Social Science, Psychology or Business Management.
- Plus, three National 5`s or three Standard Grades at Grade 3 or above (two of which should be Mathematics and English)
- You must hold an HND Year 1 in Events with 15 credits
Information on Tests / Auditions / Interview Requirements
- You will be invited to Edinburgh College to attend an information session
- Group tasks will be set and carried out during this time
- You will then be given a short assignment which should be completed at home and submitted within five days
- There are opportunities for you to speak to the lecturing team during the information session on a one-to-one basis
