Course overview
The "Routes into Employment" program, formerly known as "Skills for Life and Work," is a comprehensive 36-week course divided into two phases, each lasting 18 weeks and aligned with SCQF Level 4.
It aims to prepare students for the workforce through a combination of college-organised work placements and classroom learning.
Phase 1 focuses on introducing students to essential employment skills, including customer service, digital safety, and practical skills for employment, complemented by a minimum of 20 hours of work placement.
Phase 2 involves a longer work placement experience of 40 hours, encompassing additional qualifications in first aid, communication, and numeracy skills, as well as industry exploration through site visits and employer talks. This program is designed to help students transition smoothly from school to employment or further vocational training.
