Course overview

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at SCQF Level 5 is designed to equip you with essential knowledge and skills to understand and manage mental health issues. Throughout the award, you will develop skills for learning, life and work, and enhance your employability and personal growth. Additionally, you will develop the skills that will allow you to contribute to reducing the stigma associated with mental health whilst promoting positive mental health awareness.

This qualification is ideal for young people, adults, and professionals working in various settings, including education, healthcare, and voluntary organisations.

What you will learn

The course is designed to enable individuals to increase their understanding and awareness of issues around mental health and wellbeing.

The genral aims of the course are to allow individuals to develop:

  • Resilience
  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-esteem
  • Self-confidence
  • Personal responsibility

How the course is assessed

  • Class-based assessment
  • Presentations
  • E-assessment

Number of days per week

  • The course will run for 1 day per week from 12.00 PM to 6.0 PM.
  • You will commit roughly 3-4 additional hours per week outside of contact time, reading, preparing assessments and engaging in any digital tasks.

Entry requirements

  • There are no formal entry requirements

English Proficiency Requirements

You must have English language proficiency of IELTS Level 5.5 or above.

Progression and Articulation Routes

  • Counselling for Beginners: Level 6
  • Other Level 6 courses within Health Wellbeing and Social Sciences

Please note that completion of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award: Level 4 and Level 5 does not automatically ensure or progess into a lvel 6 course. This will be subject to the entry requirements of each selected course.
