Course overview

Performing Engineering Operations will teach you skills in machining, engineering, materials, fitting and much more. These are essential subjects in the engineering manufacture and maintenance industry and are needed to work in the sector. 

This is a full-time course based at Edinburgh College’s Midlothian campus. The course is taught by teachers with industry experience using the latest industry technologies. You will be taught between Edinburgh College classrooms and workshops where you will gain essential and hands-on experience of the engineering sector. This course is intended to meet the requirements of employers and further engineering courses. 

This course is designed to prepare you for a technician or management position. If you are a bursary-funded student, you may gain employment as a Modern Apprentice with local engineering companies. Edinburgh College has industry connections that can assist you in finding experience within the engineering workforce.

  • Practical skills used in Manufacturing and Maintenance Engineering

  • You will be assessed on each unit 
  • All units within the course must be achieved in order to gain the full award 

Number of days per week

  • 4 days per week

  • You must be an apprentice in the industry 
  • Entry requirements are set by your employer

  • You may be asked to sit an entry test to assess if you are at the correct level for this course
