Course overview
The aim of this course is to recognise the skills, knowledge and competence required for an individual to work unsupervised as a personal trainer. This includes being able to offer one-to-one training, baseline assessment, nutritional advice and progressive programming which is specific to the individual needs of a client. If you are currently accredited at level 2 with a certificate in Gym Instructing or equivalent, then this course is the next step for you.

- Effective communication during client consultations to promote and encourage healthy lifestyle behaviours and long-term change

- Executing effective physical activity sessions for a range of clients in different environments
- Professional practice and legal requirements for Personal Training
- Business acumen for working in both an employed role and for self-employment
- Self-evaluation and professional development
How the course is assessed
- You will be assessed through multiple-choice theory papers, eAssessment practical examination and portfolio submissions.

Entry requirements
You must have a current level 2 certificate in Gym Instructing or equivalent
Information on Tests / Auditions / Interview Requirements
- You may be invited to attend an interview session for this course
- This may include practical elements based on current exercise themes and written work on your knowledge of exercise and fitness
- There will be a one to one discussion with a member of the sport and fitness team
