Students celebrate success at Recognising Excellence Awards
More than 100 further education (FE) students joined around 400 friends, family members and college staff to celebrate their achievements at Edinburgh College’s annual Recognising Excellence ceremony last week.
Held at Granton Campus on Thursday 4 June, the event brought together students from across the College’s Centres for Excellence to mark their outstanding accomplishments over the past year.
Hosted by radio presenter Micky Gavin, the evening recognised exceptional FE students as well as Schools College Partnership (SCP) learners, and Foundation and Modern Apprentices.
The Recognising Excellence Awards honour both academic success and the dedication students show in balancing their studies with work and home life. Awards presented on the night included Recognition Awards for those who have gone above and beyond, Academic Excellence Awards, and Student of the Year titles for each Centre for Excellence. Special Outstanding Achievement awards were also presented by Principal Audrey Cumberford and members of the Edinburgh College Board of Management.

Guests were also treated to two performances from the Edinburgh College String Ensemble, featuring current and former HND and BA Music students.

Recognising Excellence offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and commitment our FE students have demonstrated throughout the year. The students, along with their guests and our staff, make this event truly uplifting and inspiring. It was fantastic to share the evening with so many of our students’ families, friends and supporters. Our winners should feel incredibly proud of their achievements, and I wish them every success in the next chapter of their journey.Edinburgh College Principal Audrey Cumberford
