Students recognised at Prize Giving 2025
Over 100 students, accompanied by their friends, family and college staff, gathered to celebrate their exceptional accomplishments over the past year at Edinburgh College’s annual Prize Giving ceremony last week.
The event, held at the College’s Granton Campus on Thursday (5 June), was a special occasion which saw awards presented to further education (FE) students from the College’s four faculties: Creative Industries; Construction and Engineering; Health, Wellbeing and Social Sciences; and Tourism, Hospitality and Business.
National and local radio presenter Micky Gavin hosted the evening, where prizes were awarded to outstanding FE students, Schools College Partnership (SCP) students, as well as Foundation and Modern Apprentices.
Prize Giving celebrates the academic achievements and dedication of students, recognising their ability to balance home life, work, and their studies. Awards included Recognition Awards for those who have gone above and beyond, Academic Excellence Awards, and each curriculum area's Student of the Year award.
Principal Audrey Cumberford and Edinburgh College Board of Management members also presented special awards for Outstanding Achievement to Aimee Stein and Oleksandr Shtepan, while Anna Elise Craig was named International Student of the Year.
Prize winners, staff, and guests were also treated to a performance by the College's HND Musical Theatre students, who entertained with songs from musicals Six and Pippin.
Prize Giving is a great opportunity to celebrate the hard work and dedication our FE students have shown throughout the year. A great evening was had by all and it was amazing to be able to share this occasion with so many of our students' family, friends and loved ones. Our prize winners should be very proud of everything they’ve achieved this year and I wish them the very best in the next chapter of their journey.Audrey Cumberford, Edinburgh College Principal
