A Festive Message for Students From the Edinburgh College Board of Management

A head shot of 15 members of the Board of Management at Edinburgh College.

Earlier this week, the Board of Management held its final meeting of 2020 and, as we prepare to see out what has been a very challenging and unique year, we would like to thank you for your hard work, dedication to your studies, and for the resilience you have shown.

It has been a challenging time for us all this year, so we hope that you are all looking forward to the festive break, however you plan to spend it.

This year has seen our College pull together like never before and you have played a crucial role in that by continuing to work hard and by supporting your friends, classmates and communities.

The vast majority of you will have been learning from home, which we are aware will have been new to many of you and might have been difficult to adjust to. However, your commitment to continue learning and embracing new ways of communicating has been inspiring.

As we reflect back on this year, it is important that we take the time to acknowledge what you have achieved under such unprecedented circumstances – as students, you have been a credit to the College and to yourselves.

Across the College we have all continued to: prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of our College community; significantly adapt our learning, teaching and assessment delivery models and curriculum offer in line with our digital ambitions; and developed new online systems to provide student induction and experience services, including ECSA’s excellent work to deliver their Virtual Campus services.

These are all fantastic achievements, which would not have been possible without your support and feedback – so once again, thank you.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to our Students’ Association, ECSA, for the exceptional support and valuable representation they have provided to our student body this year.

Looking forward to 2021, our priority as a Board is to support the College in keeping our community safe and well, and to empower our students to achieve all that you can. We look forward to seeing and hearing more about your wonderful successes next year.

Stay safe and stay well over the festive break. We hope that you and your loved ones have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Hogmanay.

Yours sincerely,

Ann Landels, Interim Chair           Nigel Paul, Interim Vice Chair
