Further and Higher Education explained
We offer a range of nationally and internationally recognised courses across a wide variety of levels and subjects. The right course for you will depend on your qualifications, experience and career aspirations.

Further Education (SCQF Level 4 – 6) includes Introductory, Access, Skills for Work, National Progression Awards (NPAs) and Higher National (HNs) courses. 

Higher Education (SCQF Level 7 – 10) includes Higher National Certificates (HNCs), Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and Degree courses.

Many of the qualifications we offer are from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA). These courses are designed to prepare you for further study or progress directly to employment.

We also offer degree level courses both at Edinburgh College and in partnership with universities across Scotland. Studying at college can be a great way of building your expertise and knowledge, before moving on to university. HN courses allow you to progress directly from college to year 1, 2 or in 3 of a university degree.
