Course overview

The VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling is an advanced therapy qualification for Level 3 qualified practitioners aged 18 and above, who wish to expand their treatment offerings and pursue a career in advanced aesthetic services.

The qualification aims to develop the learner's knowledge, understanding, and practical skills when using superficial needling equipment and techniques to rejuvenate the skin's condition. You will acquire skills in providing thorough consultations, conducting skin health checks to assess the client's suitability for treatment, and formulating a specific treatment plan tailored to the individual client's needs. You will prepare and apply a range of skin needling treatments, providing the relevant pre- and post-care.

On completion of this course, you will be fully qualified to carry out Skin Needling services and/or further your studies with our Advanced Aesthetic courses

This course is VTCT and ABT Accredited 

Please Note:

  • The cost of the course is £800, which includes the price of the Kit
  • Payment must be made before the course begins
  • To guarantee a place, course fees should be paid as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. (NB: course fees are non-refundable once the course has started)
  • Some theory will be delivered online - you will be required to have access to IT to enable you to complete this part of the course, e.g., a laptop, Pc, iPhone, Android phone

What you will learn
  • Provide Cosmetic Skin Needling Treatments

Placement information

  • There is no placement for the course, but therapists should be currently employed within the Beauty industry.

How the course is assessed

  • Practical examination - externally set, examined and marked by an external examiner, graded (50% of qualification grade):
    • The examination assesses knowledge and understanding of the breadth of the mandatory treatment-specific unit at the end of the period of learning
  • Theory examination - externally set, examined and marked by an external examiner (50% of qualification grade)
    • The examination assesses the learner’s technical skills and abilities. The practical examination will take place at the end of the learning period.
  • Clinical case studies - externally set and internally marked. Although the case studies do not contribute to the overall grade, they contribute to the assessment outcome of the qualification. There is a prerequisite evidence requirement which must be completed before you undertake the external graded examinations

NB. -  All clinical case studies must be carried out under the supervision of your lecturer within our salons, and must be completed and marked as a Pass before the learner can be entered for examination

The overall qualification is graded as;

  • Pass
  • Merit
  • Distinction
  • Fail

Number of days per week

  • 1 morning per week, 10 AM to 1 PM, on a Tuesday.
  • Plus 6 hours of self-directed study.

Entry requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older before the start date of the course.
  • Hold a SVQ Level 3  or HNC Beauty Therapy qualification, including Anatomy and Physiology unit (or equivalent).
  • Have paid the £400 deposit.

There is no formal interview process; however, all applicants must –

  • Be 18 years of age or older before the start date of the course.
  • Hold a SVQ Level 3  or HNC Beauty Therapy qualification, including Anatomy and Physiology unit (or equivalent).
  • Have paid the £400 deposit

Progression and Articulation Routes

The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in the advanced aesthetic industry, providing skin needling techniques.

Additionally, learners may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing supplementary specialist qualifications at level 4 in one or more of the following areas:

  • ITEC Level 4 in Skin Peeling
  • ITEC Level 4 Award in Laser and Light Treatments for Hair Reduction
  • ITEC Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency
  • ITEC Level 4 Award in Ultrasound

Career options

  • The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in the advanced aesthetic industry, providing skin needling techniques.
  • On completion of this course, you will be fully qualified to carry out Cosmetic Skin Needling services in the industry.
