Course overview
This course is for senior phase pupils who are still at school.
You will learn useful skills and techniques used in costume design.
The course will help you:
- Build practical and creative skills
- Learn technical skills used in the industry
- Gain experience you can use in other subjects or future courses
- Start putting together a portfolio of your work
This course is a great first step to studying costume design or a similar subject at a higher level in the future.
What you will learn
- Introduction to Cutting, Sewing and Surface Decoration.
- Introduction to Garment Pattern Construction.
- Introduction to Sewing Machine Skills.
How the course is assessed
- Ongoing assessment
Number of days per week
- Two afternoons per week, Tuesday and Thursday, 1.30 PM to 3.30 PM.
Entry requirements
- Applicants should have an interest in theatre/costume making.
English Proficiency Requirements
ILETS 5.5Progression and Articulation Routes
- Students could progress onto the the Full-time HND Costume for Stage and Screen through a selection process.
Career options
- HND to progress into Theatre or Film Costume making, or articulate to Bournemouth University for the BA Hons course.
