Christie Named Student of the Year for ACE
Twenty-one-year-old Christie Moran from North Berwick has grown in confidence since starting at Edinburgh College and has now been awarded Student of the Year for Access and Continuing Education (ACE).
We spoke to Preparation for Employment Second Steps student Christie to find out more about her experience, and her plans for the future.
“I’m excited to win this award at Prize Giving, I feel really proud to be recognised for all the hard work and effort I’ve put in this year.
“I decided to come to Edinburgh College after looking at their courses and finding the right one for me. I have really enjoyed my time at College, and getting the opportunity to meet lots of new people and making more friends.
“When I started at College, I did face some challenges such as finding ways to cope with being nervous, and making sure I knew my way around the College so I could get to all of my classes.
“If I could give advice to anyone who is starting college now, it would be to be yourself and don’t worry as you will make a lot of new friends while you are studying here.
“Looking back, one of the things I am most proud of achieving during my time at College is being able to speak with confidence in front of the class. My Edinburgh College experience has been fun, exciting and challenging.”
