Cuba – English Language Teacher Training
In 2016, Edinburgh College welcomed a group of teachers from the Hello English Language School in Havana to participate in a bespoke 2-week teacher training programme. This focused on:
- Introducing current and innovative approaches, methods and techniques in ELT, assessing their effectiveness in the classroom and relating them to the local context.
- Increasing participants’ confidence in working with younger learners.
- Familiarising participants with using e-beam and other technologies in the classroom.
The course also prepared participants for the Cambridge English TKT test and offered them the opportunity to take the exam during their time in Edinburgh.
The best part of the course for me was absolutely the opportunity to engage in interesting analyses of our teaching techniques and to compare theory with the procedures and activities the teacher followed in class.Gabriela, Cuba
