College named Engaged Carer Positive Employer

Edinburgh College has been named an Engaged Carer Positive Employer by Carers Scotland for its commitment to creating a supportive work environment for staff with unpaid caring responsibilities.

The Carer Positive scheme, operated by Carers Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government, celebrates employers across the country who go above and beyond to create supportive workplaces for unpaid carers. Achieving the Engaged level reflects the College’s proactive approach to identifying and supporting carers within its workforce.

The College has been recognised for its commitment to supporting carers through workplace policies and working practices. By demonstrating evidence that systems and processes have been developed to support carers across the organisation and supporting carers to identify themselves, as well encouraging them to access support within the organisation to help them manage their work and caring responsibilities, the College is providing a supportive environment for staff who provide unpaid care looking after an ill, frail or disabled family member, friend or partner.

We are thrilled to receive this recognition. Many of our colleagues balance their professional roles with caring responsibilities at home, and it is essential that we create an environment where they feel valued and supported to succeed.

We are delighted to award Edinburgh College the Carer Positive Engaged level accreditation. The College has demonstrated a strong commitment to recognising and supporting unpaid carers through inclusive policies, flexible working practices, and a clear focus on wellbeing. The positive feedback and the impact of awareness training highlight a supportive and inclusive culture across the organisation.
