#ECGrad – Daniel excited for beginning of new chapter after graduating from College

Thirty-one-year-old Daniel Adamczyk attended College to gain the knowledge and skills required to have a successful career in Engineering, and now leaves with a BEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering as well as the Principal’s Award for Academic Excellence in Engineering.

We spoke to Daniel, who is originally from Poland but now lives in Port Seaton, to find out more about his time at College, how he found learning online, and his plans for the future:

How do you feel about Graduating?

It’s a really exciting time but it is not the end of the story. This is just the beginning.

What made you choose Edinburgh College for your studies?

I was looking for good place to start my Engineering course and Edinburgh College is the most recommended and reputable in the area.

What were you doing before starting at the college?

I was working in Canada and travelling around the world.

Have you faced any challenges, either before starting or during your studies? How did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge was my level of English, especially that in the Engineering field there is a lot of technical terms. I was afraid I would not be able to keep on track with tasks, but the lecturers helped me overcome this challenge.

What was is it like learning online during the COVID-19 pandemic?

During the pandemic, online learning was very challenging. Sitting in front of the computer with a lot of distractions around was one of the biggest challenges.

Did you have to learn quickly how to use online platforms and how did you do that?

Well, it was not that bad. The tutorials on how to use online platforms are straightforward.

If you could give one piece of advice to a student starting at the college now, what would it be?

You are in good hands! The Edinburgh College lecturers are outstanding! Open your mind and be ready for an amazing adventure!

Do you have any messages for the lecturers?

Thank you for encouraging me every day. Thank you for all the challenges. Thank you for putting me on track when I needed it. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for being a human. Thank you very much for making me a better version of myself. THANK YOU!

What are your plans for the future? Are you going on to further study after college or into employment? What is your end goal?

Well, I am now in my third year at Napier University. The final goal is to finish my degree, find a job in my field and be the best!
