Edinburgh College celebrates ECC Business Innovation Award

Edinburgh College is proud to have been named the winner of an Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Business Award in the Innovation in Business category.

The College was awarded the honour at a ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, attended by business leaders from across the capital.

The prestigious prize recognises the groundbreaking partnership between the College and Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, which is creating new pathways for students to begin their careers in the vital renewable energy sector.

The partnership, which began in 2024, addresses skills gaps in the increasingly important offshore wind sector, helping to prepare Scotland’s future workforce for a net-zero economy. The flagship project, Gen-Sea, is an immersive strategy-based computer game, which promotes critical thinking, problem solving and environmental awareness.

Audrey Cumberford, Edinburgh College's Principal, says it's a well-deserved win:

"A huge congratulations is in order for everyone involved in the partnership between Edinburgh College and Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, after being recognised with an Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce Innovation in Business Award.

What a fantastic achievement, which serves as further proof of the College’s work to create new pathways for students to begin their careers in the renewable energy sector."
