Edinburgh College Supports Training Needs of Nationwide Healthcare Charity

Watch: Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland - Flexible Workforce Development Fund

Staff at nationwide health charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland have been upskilling thanks to a series of bespoke training programmes designed in partnership with Edinburgh College.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland, which provides vital services to support people and their families who are living with effects of serious chest and heart conditions and stroke, has partnered with the College to tap in to the Flexible Workforce Development Fund in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund provides eligible employers with up to £15,000-worth of training from their local college to upskill and reskill their existing workforce.

Through the fund, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland colleagues have completed training modules in: change management; customer service; briefings and presentations; train the trainer; emotional intelligence; project management; and leadership and management.

Carol Pake, head of Human Resources and Organisational Development at Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland said: “We have developed a fantastic relationship with Edinburgh College. Their team has understood our objectives and has focused on courses that we feel are relevant to what we need, as well as giving us customised solutions when required to ensure training is focused on helping our organisation meet its objectives.”

Edinburgh College head of Commercial Jane Grant said: “It’s been fantastic to develop such a productive relationship with Chest Heat and Stroke Scotland which has brought many benefits to staff across the charity – supporting it to carry out the vitally important work it does.

“We’re looking forward to continuing that relationship working alongside our associate trainers and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s team to identify areas where we can help the development of their staff.”
