Edinburgh College to start new project in Thailand

Edinburgh College last week began work on a new project in partnership with the English Teachers Association of Thailand. The project will see the College’s English Language and Teacher training team design and deliver a language development and teaching methodology programme for up to 50 teachers of English from across Thailand.

The new partnership is part of the wider Partnered Remote Language Improvement (PRELIM) project, which was conceived and funded by the British Council, and developed in partnership with IATEFL and English UK, who represent the UK’s English Language teaching sector.

The wider project will see 40 UK language teaching centres partnered with teaching associations in countries across the world and aims not only to increase the language proficiency and professional confidence in using English in the classroom among teachers worldwide but also to foster and support partnerships between teachers, English Teacher Associations and UK language centres.

Edinburgh College’s course will be delivered to selected teachers across Thailand over a 12-week period from January to March next year.

Sarah Gore, International Business Manager at Edinburgh College said: “We’re very excited to have been selected to take part in this new project. Despite the challenges of the last two years, we have continued to expand the range of English Language and Teacher Training projects we are involved in across the world and this new project in Thailand is part of a growing portfolio of remote English Language and Teacher Training courses we are delivering internationally. We are looking forward to working with our partners at the Thai teachers association and the British Council in the coming months.”
