First Edinburgh Cohort Completes Fast Track Into Financial Services Course

Seventeen students have become the first Edinburgh College cohort to complete the award-winning Fast Track into Financial Services course.

Fast Track into Financial Services is a six-week work-readiness course developed for HNC/HND/Degree-level graduates wishing to pursue a career in Scotland’s financial services sector, and is the result of a partnership project involving industry, learning providers including Edinburgh College and Skills Development Scotland (SDS).

The programme has been co-designed, and is co-delivered, with financial services companies, thus representing an agile response to the industry’s recruitment needs and providing participants with a good foundation upon which to secure future employment.

In addition, all students receive a mock interview from either an industry provider or an employment agency as part of the course and gain invaluable feedback to support their future career journey.

Seventeen Edinburgh College students have now completed the course, gaining an SCQF Level 7 qualification jointly awarded by Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE), SQA and SDS.

The programme had a strong focus on developing the skills required to secure a role within the financial industry and helped to develop a broad range of skills and techniques from areas such as retail banking, economics, risk management, professional conduct, and many other relevant areas. The tutors did an excellent job of utilising new interactive elements during class, making each session fun and engaging.
Sunny Evans – first cohort student
We are thrilled that our first group of students have successfully completed the Fast Track course. It is down to the hard work of our lecturing team and the students that they have achieved this milestone – I’m very grateful for their hard work and I’m delighted at their success. We’re very proud of our students’ progress during the short course and we wish them the very best of luck with their future, either in future study or in Financial Services employment.
