Course overview

This course has been developed to provide a basic understanding of Human Resource Management (HRM), as well as the administration and IT skills and knowledge required for further study and employment. A basic understanding of the law and administration may also enhance your career prospects. On successful completion, you can progress to a level 6 relevant course commencing in August/September 2027. On completion of your level 6 course, you can study a relevant HNC in the following term.

  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of the role of an HRM advisor
  • Develop IT and office skills 
  • Provide you with the opportunity to develop relevant Core Skills for HRM and administration-related occupations, as well as for further study.
  • Prepare you for entry into related HN programmes.

How the course is assessed

Each subject will have different evidence requirements and assessment approaches.

Some examples are provided below on the methods of assessment:

  • Open Book
  • Exam – Closed-book controlled
  • Project-based assessments

Number of days per week

  • 3 days per week
  • 2 days on campus and 1 day study

Entry requirements

  • Candidates will be considered on an individual basis
  • A minimum of three relevant National 4s (must include English and Maths/Numeracy)

Or

  • Any relevant National Qualifications Group Award at SCQF level 4 or 5 (including Comms/Numeracy)
