How the course is assessed
The IOSH Managing Safely course is assessed through:
- A short multiple-choice assessment at the end of the course, designed to test understanding of the key topics covered.
- A practical workplace risk assessment project, where learners identify hazards, assess risks and recommend suitable control measures within their own workplace or a realistic work environment.
Learners who successfully complete both assessments will receive the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate.
This assessment approach focuses on practical application, ensuring learners can apply their knowledge to improve workplace health and safety.
Number of days per week
- One day per week (Tuesday) over 4 weeks, from 8.45 AM to 4.30 PM.
- You are expected to attend all sessions to successfully complete the course and assessments.
- The course dates are 25 August, 1, 8 and 15 September.
Entry requirements
- Before joining the course, you will meet with the tutor to discuss the course content, expectations and assessment requirements. This provides an opportunity for both you and the tutor to ask questions, ensure the course is the right fit, and establish clear expectations from the outset.
- Other than the interview, there are no formal entry requirements. However, you should have a good standard of written and spoken English to participate fully in the training and complete the assessments.
- The course is suitable for managers, supervisors, team leaders, and anyone responsible for managing health and safety within their organisation. No previous health and safety qualifications or experience are required.
Information on Tests / Auditions / Interview Requirements
To achieve the IOSH Managing Safely Certificate, learners must successfully complete:
- A short multiple-choice assessment, completed at the end of the course.
- A practical risk assessment project, where learners identify hazards and recommend control measures in a workplace setting.
Both assessments are designed to test learners' understanding of the course content and their ability to apply health and safety principles in practice.
