Course overview
This 18-week full-time course will support you in preparing to audition for a full-time acting course by developing your skills in acting, voice, movement, group work and performance techniques. With state-of-the-art facilities that include movement and rehearsal studios, Aerial space and our in-house Theatre and Fringe Venue, we offer the best to start your creative journey.
This course has a practical focus, so applicants must be aware of the expectations before applying. You will be introduced to audition techniques and immerse yourself in acting as you gain essential experience in professional environments and make crucial connections with theatre professionals. Theatre visits, workshops, and graduate Q&As will enhance your learning, and you will have the opportunity to showcase your developing skills in performance throughout the course. Students in this course will collaborate with peers across Performing Arts Studio Scotland and must possess the ability to communicate effectively and work in a creative environment.

What you will learn

- The course is assessed holistically through participation in practical workshops, tasks and ongoing reflection and research to support your practical exploration.

Due to the practical nature of this course, we have outlined clear guidelines for potential applicants:
You Must;
- Complete the online application fully, including a strong personal statement and reasoning of why you have applied for the course.
- Nat 4 Qualifications or above to support communication, understanding and the ability to be successful on this course.
- Be open and transparent about any additional support needs you may have during the application process.
- Be committed and can fully participate in every aspect of the course.
- Be physically and mentally prepared to work independently in a college environment.
- Complete all aspects of the application, Audition and Interview Process.

Audition and Interview Information:
If your application is successful and you meet the required criteria for this course, you will be invited to attend a group workshop and an interview.
Group Workshop Potential Outline
- Participate in a group warm-up.
- Engage in drama games to support communication, collaboration and problem solving
- You may be asked to work in smaller groups to create something with guidance to support your creativity and showcase your skills
Interview
- Each candidate will meet with two members of the teaching faculty
- You will be asked a series of questions to assess your suitability for the course
