College Renews Partnership With Hey Girls for 20/21 Session

Edinburgh College has renewed a partnership with social enterprise Hey Girls to ensure that all students will continue to have access to sanitary products for session 2020/21.

This partnership will allow Edinburgh College students to simply email to request the sanitary products they require and they will be delivered to their door by Hey Girls.

To request a delivery of sanitary products, please email wellbeing@edinburghcollege.ac.uk with the following details:

  • Your name
  • Your EC student number
  • Your address

A member of the College’s Wellbeing team will then respond to your request, clarifying which products you’d like, before passing this information to Hey Girls who will deliver them directly to your address.

The College initially entered a partnership with Hey Girls at the start of the coronavirus pandemic to ensure students were still able to receive sanitary products for free despite not being able to come into the College to collect them.

Hey Girls is a Social Enterprise on a mission to end Period Poverty in the UK. Every month people across the country are still facing the difficult reality of not being able to afford period products. Hey Girls work with hundreds of local charities and community groups, schools, colleges and universities across the country to make sure no-one has to go without.

Safeguarding team leader Kara Tait said: “We are pleased to renew this exciting partnership with Hey Girls for the new academic year. Being partnered with Hey Girls means that students across Edinburgh College will have access to a range of sanitary products which are not only free but are accessible via delivery to their home. This allows students to study without having to worry about period protection.

Senior Sales Development Lead Becca Bell said: “We believe that access to period products should be a right and not a privilege and it’s been wonderful working with Edinburgh College over the past year to ensure that their students have had that access, Global pandemic or not!

“Since lockdown began in March we’ve been working with our partners, Edinburgh College included, to continue providing period protection to those who need it, in the form of home deliveries. The result being that people in these settings have one less thing to worry about and can feel confident whilst on their periods.

“We are working to expand this initiative across the UK, and welcome the opportunity to work with new councils, schools and colleges to keep everyone period protected during Covid-19.”
