Edinburgh College Launches Virtual Professional Training

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, organisations across all sectors have had to be flexible in their approach to client care. That narrative has been no different for Edinburgh College’s Training and Development team which has developed a new suite of Virtual Professional Training to support its business clients.

The team delivers high-quality, bespoke training packages to firms across the UK, supporting them to reskill and upskill their people, ensuring employees have the tools they need to continue developing in their role.

Like many organisations, Edinburgh College has completed a shift of the delivery of its product to online platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Moodle, amongst others. This quick decision to create virtual training, which in normal circumstances business leaders may tell you would take a considerable amount of time, was completed in weeks and has resulted in clients experiencing minimal disruption to their training schedules – allowing them to train their people and support the mental health of staff whilst they work at home.

Since the start of lockdown, Edinburgh College trainers, who are specialists in their respective fields, have delivered over 100 online training courses to more than 900 delegates.

Training courses cover areas including: Mental Health and Resilience; Leadership and Management (including CIPD, CIM, CMI and ILM qualifications); Health and Safety (IOSH and NEBOSH); Computing; and Enterprise and Commerce (AAT).

Programmes recently developed during the pandemic include: ‘Managing Remote Teams’; ‘Holding Virtual Meetings’; and ‘Make Working from Home Work’.

Looking ahead, as the nation continues to navigate its way through the pandemic, Edinburgh College stands ready to support the local and national economic recovery by continuing to support businesses to invest in the skills of their people as they adjust to new ways of working.

A new Virtual Professional Training Prospectus has been launched by the College, allowing organisations to identify courses their workforce can benefit from on defined dates through scheduled training, or to search a range of courses – of which single elements can be adapted to meet the requirements of clients thanks to the College’s bespoke training approach.

Firms interested in taking part in Virtual Professional Training, or adopting a blend of face-to-face and virtual training are connected with the College’s team of Business Advisors who consult the expertise of College trainers to develop training packages, including designing unique courses, to meet the training needs and learning outcomes of the organisation.

Principal Audrey Cumberford said: “The upskilling and reskilling of the staff employed by our business partners has remained a priority for our College throughout the pandemic. This is evidenced in the remarkable levels of Virtual Professional Training we have delivered to our clients in recent months.

“We are committed to supporting businesses to continue the economic recovery that is now needed, and to boost that by delivering high-quality training to employees to help firms to respond to the challenges they face in 2020 and beyond.”
