Course overview

This short course is designed to develop your knowledge and skills required to safely programme and operate CNC lathes and milling machines.

This learning programme supports continuing professional development for those looking to upskill or refresh their CNC machining training.

Delivered over 5 days, the course will develop your knowledge and understanding to allow the effective and efficient programming, operation and tooling requirements of CNC equipment.

What you will learn

You will develop an understanding and practical skills to allow you to:

  • Develop knowledge on basic programming of CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Set CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Safely operate CNC lathes and milling machines.
  • Develop the skills to set tooling to the correct lengths.
  • Gain knowledge on the correct speeds and feeds required to machine a range of different materials.
  • Develop an understanding of how to prove components using machine graphs.

Number of days per week

  • Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August, 9.00 AM to 4. 00 PM at Midlothian Campus

Entry requirements

  • This course is intended for candidates who are working in or have experience in an engineering work environment and have access to CNC machines.
