China – English Language for Early Years Education

In 2019-2020, Edinburgh College designed and delivered a bespoke English Language for Early Years Education programme in Guangzhou in partnership with a local vocational high school and the Guangzhou Education Department. 

The aim of the programme was to provide students with greater English Language fluency, in particular English for Kindergarten Teachers, with a view to preparing students for work in the increasing number of bilingual and international nurseries and kindergartens being established in China, or for further study in the early years sector. 

The Edinburgh College modules of the programme were designed to complement and supplement the existing curriculum and were delivered using a ‘blended delivery’ model, with students studying online courses and taking part in face-to-face classes taught by Edinburgh College lecturers in Guangzhou. 

The partnership saw Edinburgh College nominated for the China-Scotland Business Awards Innovation in Education Award in 2020.
